Grow Your Business

Funding Growth

Funding your growth refers to securing the financial resources needed to expand operations, enter new markets, develop products, or increase your team.

A well-planned funding strategy ensures the right amount of money is available to support expansion without jeopardizing stability.

To fund your business growth, you have several options: bootstrapping, loans, equity financing (from angel investors or venture capitalists), state funding programs, your local economic development organization, grants, and other sources.

Alternative funding options can include friends and family financing, crowdfunding, and even exploring options like corporate venturing or peer-to-peer lending.

Virginia Small Business Financing (VSBFA)

VSBFA is the Commonwealth of Virginia's business and economic development financing arm, offering a variety of financing opportunities for small businesses.

Aligned within Virginia's Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity, the VSBFA offers programs to provide businesses, not-for-profit, and economic development authorities with the financing needed for economic growth and expansion throughout the Commonwealth.

To accomplish this goal, they offer loans directly to businesses & non-profits, credit enhancements to banks that are lending to businesses & non-profits, as well as bond financings to benefit for-profit businesses, 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit entities, and to support clean energy and P3 transportation projects. We also help small businesses seeking to attract equity investments by providing an equity incentive grant program.

Throughout our 30 plus-year history we have helped many Virginia businesses gain the access to the capital they needed to grow and create jobs in the Commonwealth.
